My goal is to end your dispute as much in your favor as possible,
as efficiently as possible. If the case merits going all the way
through trial, we can do that. If you should take the best deal you
can and get out of the fight as quickly as possible, I will tell you that.
And anything in between.
Big business with a huge litigation budget are quite at home in
legal disputes. My clients – small businesses and individuals —
typically are not. Often the issue I handle is a client’s first serious
legal dispute. So a good part of my job, and one that I enjoy, is
explaining to my clients exactly what is going on at each step
and making sure they understand their options for moving forwards
or pressing for resolution.
Anthony grew up in England. He moved to this country in 1982 and lived for ten years in New York City, where, among other things, he worked at the late and unlamented Bear Stearns, wrote a play that was produced by the Public Theater in Central Park, and taught political science at Columbia University, where he was doing graduate work. He and his family moved to California in 1992, where he immediately attended law school at Berkeley. He has practiced as a civil litigator in San Francisco for his entire legal career.
Anthony is married to Carey Perloff, the artistic director of San Francisco’s American Conservatory Theater. They have two children, Alexandra and Nicholas.
Anthony Giles has helped me and my company on two occasions with outstanding results. One case involved an insurance lawsuit that got resolved without any monies coming out of my pocket. He managed a three way settlement with three different insurance companies. He is excellent on follow up, makes sure he knows the law in every circumstance & is thorough and professional. He is always available for questions and moves things along quickly and efficiently. In my 30 years in business Anthony Giles is the best business lawyer I have had dealings with.
Anthony represented me in a lawsuit by a buyer who claimed we had not made full disclosures in the sale of our home. The buyer pushed and pushed but Anthony, who didn't let him get away with anything, was very effective, polite, efficient, and responsive until finally the plaintiff gave up. Anthony is a man of utmost integrity and it was a pleasure to work with him.
Anthony is a smart, effective and efficient attorney. He grasps the issues of the case quickly, conducts thorough but efficient research and provides thoughtful, helpful, no-nonsense advice. He is zealous, but practical and strategically focuses on achieving the best result for his client. As the General Counsel of a company, I am a consumer of legal services and work with many skilled lawyers. Anthony is a “go-to” attorney. I recommend him without reservation.
Anthony did an exceptional job litigating (in arbitration) a complex and high stakes construction defect claim worth millions. He was incredibly detail oriented and ran circles around the defense during the week-long arbitration. In addition to winning, he was a pleasure to work with and I would recommend him highly in the future.
Anthony represented us in a complicated situation when the basement level of our house flooded as the result of construction next door. Our insurance carrier initially denied coverage but Anthony was able to convince them to cover the damage under our policy. The insurer then balked at paying for construction to our house to ensure that the damage would not recur, but again Anthony persuaded them that this was covered by the policy. All this was done without litigation. I am general counsel for a financial services firm and use big law firms all the time. I can attest that Anthony’s service and results are better and cheaper than what you will get from larger firms. He is extremely capable and can handle very complicated, nuanced cases.
